FRCR 2B Book Recommendations
Doing 2b exams is like taking part in a play or even theatre. Nothing will beat doing viva practice with colleagues/seniors/courses. But you’ll have to memorise some lines. What I mean by that is that there will be a few ‘classic’ cases that you just have to nail or you are not part of the ‘2b crew’.
The following books are really good for this kind of thing (afflinks ahead):
Classic book. Great cases and great explanations. Only thing might be the quality of the images but that should not really hold you back from learning.
This book is great. Gives you ‘the script’ you’ll need for those classic cases. Would definitely recommend.
You’ll hear this a lot and it is true. You aren’t expected to give out a list of differentials. 3 will do…maybe 4 if you want to impress. This book is great for that but be warned…It is massive. I only ended up doing the subjects I knew I would struggle with…Chest and paeds….
John Curtis has some really great cases and is obviously very experienced in teaching. Well explained and gets you to think outside of the box with some of the cases here.
In my personal opinion I would avoid his course though (Aintree)…absolute meat market.
In general these Radcase books were really good. I really struggle with chest and so chose the topic I found hardest and used the specific books. I also used the paeds one.
