FRCR 2A Book Recommendations (Knowledge)
This was a very tough exam for me. When I did them they were 6 separate modules and in truth I spent the majority of my training doing them! In doing so I ended up trying every book out there. A wise person once told me that reading the same topic from different books is a great way to learn. I would tend to agree. I was given advice on contrary (find a single book that you find useful and stick to it).
I’ve split the book recommendations for 2a into 2. Knowledge and then questions.
The following books are ones that I would personally recommend and used personally to my eventual ‘success’. I would go through the books in the order that I have written them (afflinks ahead):
I found this to be a really great read. Brief where it needs to be and great diagrams. For me this book was a bit of a game changer when I came to understanding things.
Grainger & Allison’s Diagnostic Radiology Essentials is a great book. DO NOT get the large one. This is like a filtered down version of the large one for normal people. Everything is laid out in a double page spread. One side is the text and the other is the imaging. Really recommend this book.
